ABAA & CSI Atlanta – Half Day Symposium
October 22, 2025 @ 9:00 am - 2:00 pm EDT

9:00-9:30 AM Sign-In & Welcome
9:30– 9:45 AM Introductions – ABAA, CSI and Sponsors
9:45-10:45 AM Presentation Keith Simon, The Evolving Landscape of Commercial Energy Efficiency: Understanding & Applying New Codes – 1.0 LU/HSW
This course provides owners, architects, engineers, and construction professionals with essential insights into navigating commercial energy efficiency codes, focusing on ASHRAE 90.1 and IECC. Participants will explore the impact of these codes on building enclosure design, materials, and systems, and understand the role of Building Enclosure Commissioning (BECx) in ensuring performance requirements are met. Through case studies, real-world examples, and a look at emerging trends, the course covers key requirements, challenges, and innovations in building enclosure design for sustainable and energy-efficient projects.
10:45-11:00 AM Break
11:00AM-12:00 PM Presentation Adam Ugliuzza, Whole Building Testing is Coming… Do Not Fear It – 1.0 LU/HSW
An airtight building is critical to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and advancing Net Zero Passive Building construction. Beyond energy savings, airtightness supports moisture management, proper equipment operation and sizing, and indoor air quality. The question is: how do we know if a building is airtight? The answer is whole building airtightness testing. ABAA members helped develop ASTM E3158, the standard for testing large or multizone buildings, and in 2022 launched a Blower Door Technician training and certification program to support industry adoption. This presentation will address myths, explain the testing process, outline steps if performance targets aren’t met, and highlight ABAA’s training program and what sets it apart.
12:00-1:00 PM Lunch & Visit Vendors
1:00-2:00 PM Presentation Melissa Payne, Understanding Manufacturer Full Building Envelope Warranties – 1.0 LU/HSW
Manufacturer full building envelope warranties are increasingly sought after for the value they bring to building owners, offering risk management and peace of mind. Ensuring protection against water, air, and thermal intrusion across all levels and transitions of the building enclosure is critical, and warranties can serve as an important safeguard in a world focused on minimizing financial exposure. But are they really that straightforward? This presentation will define manufacturer full building envelope warranties, explain the value they provide, debunk common myths, and outline what to look out for during the design and specification process to ensure their full benefit.
