SUMMARY:AIVC/TightVent/INIVE Ensuring Reliable Airtightness Measurements: Airtightness Tester Qualification Across Countries
DESCRIPTION:Register Here \nThe qualification of airtightness testers plays a key role in ensuring the reliability\, consistency\, and credibility of building airtightness measurements\, which are essential for energy performance assessment\, indoor environmental quality\, and compliance with building regulations. Over the past decades\, several countries and professional organizations have developed qualification and certification schemes for airtightness testers in order to improve measurement quality and increase confidence in reported results. \nIn some countries\, qualification schemes are closely linked to regulatory requirements and mandatory testing procedures. In France\, for example\, the implementation of building energy regulations has been accompanied by approved qualification schemes for testers\, certification procedures\, and national databases collecting airtightness test results to support quality control and statistical analysis. \nIn other contexts\, qualification schemes are developed and managed by professional associations. Examples include ATTMA (Air Tightness Testing & Measurement Association) in the United Kingdom and ABAA (Air Barrier Association of America) in the U.S.\, which promote technical competence\, harmonized practices\, and third-party quality assurance. These qualification frameworks are also used and referenced internationally. \nThis webinar will present and compare these different approaches to the qualification of airtightness testers. \nThis webinar is organized with the support of TightVent Europe (www.tightvent.eu) and AIVC (www.aivc.org). Both initiatives are facilitated by INIVE (www.inive.org). \nAgenda (CET- Brussels\, BE) \n\n2:00PM | Introduction on the qualification of airtightness testers across 16 countries\, Nolwenn Hurel (Cerema\, France)\n2:05PM | Qualification Process for Air Tightness Testers in the UK\, Paul Carling (BCTA\, UK)\n2:20PM | Questions and answers\n2:30PM | Qualification of airtightness testers in the USA – The ABAA experience\, Laverne Dalgleish (ABAA\, USA)\n2:45PM | Questions and answers\n2:55PM | Qualification of airtightness testers in France – Feedback after 15 years\, Valérie Leprince (Cerema\, France)\n3:10PM | Questions and answers\n3:30PM | End of webinar

SUMMARY:Wagdy Anis Symposium on Building Science 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Boston Society of Architects (BSA) and Building Enclosure Council (BEC-Boston) presents the 2026 Wagdy Anis Symposium on Building Science\, honoring the legacy of Wagdy Anis FAIA and his enduring impact on high-performance enclosure design. \nThis year’s theme\, Off-Site Construction of the Building Enclosure: Precision\, Performance\, and Scalability\, focuses on the role of prefabricated and modular enclosure systems in meeting increasingly rigorous energy\, durability\, and climate performance goals. As codes such as the Massachusetts Stretch Energy Code continue to evolve\, off-site construction offers new opportunities for improved quality control\, airtightness\, thermal performance\, and construction efficiency. \nDate: Thursday\, June 25th\, 2026 – All Day \nLocation: BSA Space – 290 Congress Street\, Suite 200\, Boston\, MA \nLearn More and Register \nThe Keynote presentation will be delivered by Brian Stroik—ABAA member\, Past Chair\, and former Director. Brian’s leadership and contributions to the industry have helped shape the conversation around building performance\, durability\, and quality assurance\, and we look forward to hearing his perspective.
