SUMMARY:Sink or Swim: Effective Natatorium Envelope Design Thru Case Study 1.0 CEU/HSW
DESCRIPTION:POSTPONED \nSink or Swim: Effective Natatorium Envelope Design Thru Case Study\nParticipants will develop a comprehensive understanding of the potential risks involved in designing roof and wall assemblies over pools and other corrosive environments. The session will cover effective design strategies to mitigate moisture damage by managing air\, temperature\, and vapor control. Key roof assembly elements—such as metal decking\, fasteners\, air/vapor barriers\, and insulation—will be discussed in detail. Finally\, these principles will be applied in a case study\, covering the full project lifecycle from concept and design to application\, inspections\, and handover. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nExplain how moisture intrudes and affects roof/wall assemblies over pools and caustic environments.\nSummarize the typical materials of construction\, and advantages associated with material selection in roof and wall assemblies.\nIdentify the functional performance-based characteristics of a high-performance enclosure system.\nAnalyze various preferred natatorium roof/wall assembly details and applications in a case study.\n\n  \nQ. Jonnie Hasan\, M. Eng. (Sustainable Development)\, Professional Engineer (P.E. Structural)\, BECxP\, CxA+BE\, Director of Engineering\, IMETCO \nJonnie has more than 24 years of experience in commercial construction\, design-build\, and cladding industry. In his position\, Jonnie has various roles: including building envelope designer\, WUFI analyst\, manufacturing engineer\, sustainable smart building engineer\, and operations manager. Jonnie is also certified as a Building Envelope Commissioning Provider & Commissioning Authority designation by University of Wisconsin. Jonnie strives to guide clients to the most cost effective and efficient product application. Jonnie is a registered Professional Engineer with numerous patents related to building cladding system and design.

SUMMARY:ABAA & CSI Chattanooga- Half Day Symposium
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER NOW \n2:30–3:00 PM – Sign-In & Welcome \n3:00–4:00 PM – Melissa Payne: Dispelling Myths About Building Enclosure Warranties\, 1.0 CEU/HSW \nBuilding Envelope System Warranties are becoming more sought after and bring some real value to a building owner – they help manage risk and obtain peace of mind.  What constitutes a building enclosure system warranty?  Can such a warranty be attained under one umbrella of coverage?  Our industry understands how critical it is to ensure building enclosure protection from water\, air\, and thermal intrusion\, at every level\, and at every transition\, but is our industry ready to shift practices to make this a reality for building owners?  In a world aiming to minimize financial exposure\, system warranties are a good option. But are they really that simple to specify and implement? Join us to learn more about building enclosure system warranties\, the value they bring\, what they are\, how to specify them\, and what to look out for during the build process.  \n4:00–4:15 PM – Break \n4:15–5:15 PM – Scott Wood: Observing Building Enclosures Leaking: Heat\, Air\, and Water Using Infrared Thermography\, 1.0 CEU/HSW \nThe enclosure envelopes the building separating the conditioned and exterior environments. Within that enclosure are Heat\, Air\, Liquid Moisture and Moisture vapor (HAMM) controlling elements. Infrared thermography can be utilized to visualize Heat\, Air and Moisture (HAM) by the energy emitted from building surfaces affected by HAM. We will explore the benefits\, limitations and physics behind the use of infrared thermography or thermal science\, it’s partnering with building science and infrared’s use in “seeing” Heat\, Air and Moisture flow at the enclosure. By showing and describing thermal imagery\, we will demonstrate how thermal patterning shows Heat\, Air and Moisture flow. In the end\, our audience will better understand how this technology can be applied to the enclosure\, minimizing risk\, determining retrofit needs\, evaluating energy performance and much more. \n5:15-6:00 PM – Happy Hour \n6:00-7:00 PM – Dinner + Melissa Payne: Building Enclosure Architectural Details – Conveying Construction Drawing Clarity\, 1.0 CEU/HSW\nDesigning an air-tight\, water-tight\, and energy efficient building requires an understanding of the anatomy of the entire building enclosure to build structures that will perform as intended. A lack of understanding of these concepts translates into poor and incomplete architectural details\, gaps in design information\, and exterior wall components that cannot be properly installed\, leading to contractors “figuring it out on the field.” This presentation will touch upon basic concepts of building science and how drawings can be improved to create beautiful\, sustainable structures that function properly\, by conveying clarity on building enclosure details at foundation-to-wall\, roof-to-wall\, window-to-wall\, penetrations\, and at dissimilar material transition points \n7:00 PM – Wrap-Up \nREGISTER NOW
