Maximizing Roof System Energy Efficiency and Performance
Presented by Ben Meyer
Roof design and construction plays an important role in determining future operating energy costs for buildings. Membrane choice, insulation levels, air barriers and attachment methods all play a role in energy efficiency. This talk looks at field experience, previously published studies, and ways to evaluate building energy costs. Using fully validated modeling tools, systems will be compared to show how energy efficiency can be improved.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand the role of membrane choice, air barriers/vapor retarders and insulation levels in building energy efficiency.
- Learn the aspects of roof system design that affect building energy efficiency and review how to optimize design for both energy efficiency and condensation risk.
- Understand how system design (e.g., adhered vs. mechanically attached) affects installation cost, thermal resistance, and long term energy use.
- Distinguish between different construction details with respect to balancing cost & resiliency/service life.
Live webinar airing on May 29, 2020 – 1:00 – 2:00 PM EST
