Case Study: The Academy for Global Citizenship
October 26, 2023 @ 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM EDT
The Academy for Global Citizenship is a two-story, 70,000 square foot K-8 elementary school on the southwest side of Chicago, IL. The project is pursuing both Living Building V4.0 and PHIUS 2021 Certification. One part of this certification is Net Zero Energy. In addition to a PV array and efficient mechanical system is an extremely efficient envelope. Great attention was paid to reducing overall wall conduction solar heat gain, and uncontrolled air leakage.
As one of the few projects in the Chicago area to have such high performance targets, there were bumps and holes along the road.
Steven Black of Power Construction and Len Sciarra of FARR will overview the project and the details and pitfalls.
Learning Objectives:
- How to manage the challenge of time
- Understand the importance of people
- Items you absolutely have to get ahead of
- It’s always the doors, right?
